Oiling

Clean and oil machine daily. For best results, use REVO/KOSHA Cleaning Solvent and REVO/KOSHA Lubricating Oil obtainable from BAGCLOSERS.com or any Authorised Representative.

Wash out dirt as follows: Unthread needle. With machine running, dip portion in three or four inches of solvent for about 10 seconds. Then in addition to the oil cups on the machine, oil all shafts, feed dog carrier mechanism, and cutting knife parts. (Important: Do not use gasoline or kerosene as a cleaning solvent.)

Needle Care

Due to vibrations in Needle Bar - after some weeks of machine usage - the needle tends to slip from the Needle Bar. If it slips too low, then it will strike the parts underneath, causing breakage & machine downtime.

To avoid this - every few weeks, loosen the Needle Nut a little, then push the needle upwards as much as possible - till it goes up no longer. Then tighten the Needle Nut again - so that Needle is now back again in its original position.

Dip the thread cone in our Special Thread Lubricating oil for 2 minutes and then fix the cone onto the machine. When the oil-soaked thread passes through the needle-hole during operation, it reduces the needle temperature (Needle cools down) and thereby reducing chances that instantly cools down the needle during operation. Also the lubricant binds the thread plies, making re-threading easier.

When tar coated bags are stitched, the needle becomes sticky and extremely hot during operation. At 2000 S.P.M. needle cooling is a must otherwise it will result in more needle breakages.

Needle & Looper

Check the distance between needle centre and looper edge. Turn the pulley by hand until the looper reaches its right furthest position, while keeping the clearance of 5mm between needle center and looper edge.

1. Confirm whether or not the distance between centres of ball joint (A) is being kept 87mm. Also pay special attention to the strict distance of 87mm, and if not, it is unable to adjust every parts at all.

2. Turn the pulley again by hand until looper reaches its left furthest position, while keeping the clearance of 5mm between needle centre and looper edge to loose nuts (a) and (b) of joint (B).

In case the distance between centres is more than 5mm, turn joint rod (B) to "S" direction to decrease it. In case the distance between centres is less than 5mm, turn joint rod (B) to "L" direction to increase it.

Note: Make sure that the nut (b) has left-handed thread.

Needle Height

When the looper moves left and right to turn pulley by hand, the looper and the needle shall be adjusted in such a way that the bottom of both holes will be entirely corresponded as shown in Fig. 3.

1. Check if or not the needle is set in the needle bas as deep as it will go by loosening the needle bar clamping nut.

2. Make sure of setting a needle with its concave part facing correctly toward the looper when the needle is just going up from the lowest position.

3. Should it be necessary t change needle height, first remove the upper face plate.

To go up the needle…
Loosen the screw (a), lower the needle bar connection to obtain proper distance required and tighten it. Then, loosen the screw (b), risen the needle bar until the needle bar connection touches the needle bar connecting stud and tighten it.

To go down the needle…
Loosen the screw (b), lower the needle bar to obtain proper distance required and tighten it. Then, loosen the screw (a), fix the needle bar connection at the place where it touches the needle bar connecting stud and tighten it.

4. Check once again if the direction of concave part of needle is correct or not.

Needle & Looper Gap

Turn pulley by hand and fix eccentric cam so that the screw (a) may be horizontal position as shown in fig. 5, while the looper is passing behind needle and the sharp point of looper is corresponded with needle centre. Afterwards, adjust the gap to b 0.05-0.1mm between looper and needle to confirm they are not clashed each other when the sharp point of looper is passing behind needle. The adjustment of the gap shall be done by loosening screw (b) of looper oscillating arm.

Feed Dog Height

Adjust the height of feed dog to loosen screw (a) in order to obtain the most appropriate protrusion of 1.0-1.2mm above the upper surface of throat plate after regulating the screw (b).

Needle Guard Adjustment

Adjust the clearance between guard and needle to zero when the needle is just coming up from its lowest position as shown in fig. 8 and tighten the screw (a).

Pressure of Presser Foot

The pressure of presser foot shall be adjusted in such a manner that the upper face plate will be taken out first and then the presser bar connecting stud will be moved up and down by loosening its screw (a). When stitching thinner material (e.g. PP woven cloth bag), increase pressure. On the other hand when stitching thicker material (ex. Jute bag), decrease pressure.

Motor Care

Your Bag Closer Motor is of continuous Rating, which means that it can run without stopping for long time, but as far as possible it should not be run for long periods of time continuously. It is made for start and stop operations only, such as those required by bag closing. Careful usage & few minutes of rest every half hour will increase motor life.

Carbon Brushes should be inspected at regular intervals so that wear can be detected, and replaced before they are about 1/8" in length. To remove brushes, take out two screws from each side of motor, when replacing carbon brush, be sure it is replaced at the same axial position as removed. If it isn't, excessive sparking and loss of power will result. New carbon brushes are furnished with machine and can be purchased from us at any time (Part No. D1-143). Before replacing check if original carbon brushes were Square or Round, and replace accordingly.

No motor will operate properly unless the bearings are kept well lubricated. Ball bearings are packed with grease sufficient for a period of one to two years, depending on the service given to the motor and temperature of the room in which it operates.
To refill, remove the end caps covering the bearing and clean out the old grease before putting in the new. If the ball bearing is removed for washing in gasoline, the built-in grease seal should be facing towards the motor interior when replaced. Use only well known make of Sodium Base Ball Bearing Grease.
